What We Do
Strengthen Existing Churches
The Mission of the Strengthening Existing Churches Team is to strengthen existing churches by connecting them to valuable resources.
In addition to training and service, the association provides numerous resources to the churches. Resources that are available include such things as: a portable baptistry, some AV equipment, a Dodge Sprinter Van, various equipment through the Disaster Relief Ministry, as well as a block party Event Trailer.Start Effective New Churches
The Salt Lake Baptist Association does not start churches but works in partnership with Local Churches, The Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention, and the North American Mission Board to plant new churches. It is the mission of our Starting Effective New Church Team to give every person in our mission field the opportunity to respond to the Gospel of Christ by:
- Fostering a passion among our churches to reproduce effective new churhces
- Facilitating partnerships to resource planting effective new churches
Follow through with a commitment to our network of church planters of effective new churches
Serve in Cooperative Ministries
The mission of the Ministries of Cooperation and Fellowship Team is to encourage cooperation, strengthen fellowship, and increase participation in the ministries of the Salt Lake Baptist Association.
Reach Salt Lake is the benevolence arm of our churches. Our member churches provide their people opportunity to be on mission sharing the gospel as they provide food and clothing for the low income and under privileged.
Disaster Relief trains volunteers to be ready at a moments notice to share the love of Christ with people in crisis. Our Disaster Relief ministry volunteers have served on mission in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, New Orleans, Florida, Texas, Missouri, and New York, in the continental US. They have also served on the international mission field in Banda Ache, Indonesia, American Samoa, and Haiti.
For 6 years the churches of the Salt Lake Baptist Association served as hosts for "World Changers." Our churches worked together changing the lives of people as they reroofed houses, built handicap ramps, cleaned yards, painted houses, and much more through the cities of Salt Lake and South Salt Lake. The Salt Lake Baptist Association is replacing this ministry with a "Love Strong" Initiative working together to share the love of Christ by loving our communities and volunteering in projects that will make a difference in our cities.
